NoteWorthy Singers are retired people from all walks of life. Individual members have a wide variety of interests. Many are very proud parents and grandparents. We love to travel and experience new things. We enjoy meeting new people.

OUR HISTORY
NoteWorthy Singers had its beginning in 1974 when a small number of volunteer seniors gathered around a piano and practiced with words only and called themselves the Merry Melodies. The City of Waterloo sponsored this group and provided the rehearsal space.
During their first 25 years, The Merry Melodies grew into a choir that performed regularly at senior’s homes. They’ve performed at various churches, at The Humanities Theatre, The River Run Centre and The Evergreen Centre in Guelph and participated in the 150 Year celebrations for the City of Waterloo.
In 2012 the Merry Melodies became NoteWorthy Singers. Under the direction of Terry English and accompanied by Trudy Dey, they continued the tradition of performing for seniors throughout the Waterloo Region.
Today NoteWorthy Singers boasts a membership of more than 70 very young sounding senior singers who enjoy themselves every Monday afternoon, learning varied styles of music.
The choir's repertoire contains music that is sure to bring back some musical memories for all of us, as well as folk music, light classics and songs from the Broadway stage. NoteWorthy Singers still receives support from the City of Waterloo and the City of Kitchener.
OUR ARTISTIC TEAM
Artistic Choral Director
Mary-Catherine Pazzano
Mary-Catherine begins her first season as our artistic choral director this year! For the past decade, Mary-Catherine has been working steadily as a concert and freelance vocalist, music educator, vocal coach, and music director. As a professional jazz vocalist, her concert career has taken her across North America and New Zealand. Also in demand as a private voice coach, Mary-Catherine maintains a sought-after voice studio, and has taught multiple workshops and ensembles at Wilfrid Laurier University and the University of Waterloo.

Jack Wyndham
Jack Wyndham is a local pianist and recording artist with an active online presence. He has recorded several albums of solo piano music that cover all bases from pop, to classical, to jazz, and original compositions. When Jack is not in the practice room, he can be found teaching students at the Kitchener Academy of Music, or educating folks all over the world through online video calls. Jack has played for groups including Eastwood Collegiate's Concert Choir, Preston Mennonite Church, The Royal City Big Band, Penny and Pound Theatre Company, The Cambridge Symphony, The Age of Majority Singers and The Waterloo Region Police Chorus.
Artistic Choral Director Emerita
Terry English
Our former director retired from the Noteworthy singers at the end of the 2026 spring season. Terry is a retired music educator and elementary school teacher.
In addition to her many brilliant years as our director, she has directed Harmony, ( an ensemble of high school students), the Waterloo Regional Police Male Chorus, the Canadian Orpheus Male Choir (tour conductor),as well as music director for Brantford Little Theatre.
She began her church music career at Holy Rosary Church in Burlington. She was also music director at St. Annes Church in Kitchener, First United Church in Cambridge and Knox Waterloo.
Terry taught brass lines for the St. John's Drum and Bugle Corps, Brantford, the Simcoe Lions and the Ventures in K-W.
