About the Job
Title: Artistic Choral Director for 55+ All Voices Choir
Status: Permanent Part-time
Timing:

Board meetings will be held in June and August

Executive Committee Meetings will be held May, June and August
Work Schedule:

Rehearsals weekly September – November and January - April:Monday 1:00 – 3:00

Christmas Concert - Beginning of December

Spring Concert - Beginning of May

Additional time as required to prepare for rehearsals, select music, prepare rehearsal plans and engage guest performers for concerts

Attend Executive Committee meetings monthly

Attend Board of Director meetings (8 per year)

About the Choir
Founded in 2012 NoteWorthy Singers is an approximately 70 voice non-auditioned community-based choir of persons 55+. We are known for dynamic performances, diverse repertoire, and commitment to excellence. We are an inclusive ensemble dedicated to enriching lives through choral music and community engagement.
Our season includes two concerts one at Christmas and one in the spring and several mini concerts at retirement homes. Rehearsals are held weekly on Monday afternoons beginning in early September and culminating with our spring concert in early May.
The Opportunity
NoteWorthy Singers is seeking a dynamic Artistic Choral Director to lead our choir. The choir meets weekly on Mondays in Waterloo ON. The Director will plan and lead weekly rehearsals, teach healthy vocal technique and prepare singers for performances. The Director will foster an inclusive ensemble culture and work directly with the collaborative accompanist at rehearsals.
Qualifications
Required:

At least three years of choral conducting experience with at least a BA degree in music.

Choral conducting or related field.

Demonstrated excellent musicianship and artistry as a conductor.

Proven successful experience directing choirs or vocal ensembles.

Ability to sing and demonstrate music with solid vocal technique.

Ability to adjust music arrangements to accommodate limitations of the aging voice.

Broad knowledge of diverse musical genres and styles.

Piano proficiency / Keyboard skills.

Strong organization and communication skills and proficient with technology.
What You’ll Do
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Lead weekly rehearsals and prepare choir for performance.

Select repertoire for each concert and engage guest artists.

Audition and mentor choir members.
-
Collaborate with Executive Committee and Board of Directors.

Collaborate with the piano accompanist and other instrumentalists.

Attend meetings of the Executive and board as an ex-officio member; providing advice and assistance as required.

Adhere to NWS by-laws and all policies in the exercise of duties and responsibilities.

Adhere to the choir’s Mission Vision and Values statement
Compensation
Compensation will be commensurate with experience and will be paid monthly.
