It's that time of year...

November 29, 2016

I'm still exhausted from yesterday!!! What a fabulous rehearsal.  Awesome sound! You continue to motivate and delight me with your continued dedication and efforts.  It's so nice to hear all of the parts and mostly correct notes.  I could tell by the expressions on your faces that you can  hear and feel the great music you are creating.

If you want to challenge yourself further, may I suggest that you carefully work at performing the dynamic markings as you listen to your parts this week.  (this is a great challenge as we age, because our control of the breath is somewhat compromised and its this breath control that creates dynamics).

Just think of the physical effort you have to put into singing Amen! - your dynamics in this piece are so exciting and effective, but I know it takes physical work to make it happen.  This is one example the Health benefits of being the member of a choir.

A reminder - we will be singing The First Snow and A Christmas Canon on Sunday and Thursday so please listen to these pieces in particular.  We will run through them before the concert on Sunday.

From all of us, I'd like to say thank you to Jim Bowman for his pictures.  They really capture the spirit of the choir.   I will continue to post them on the web-site as we go forward.  If anyone else has pics, please send them to me.

We are in for two wonderful concerts.  I can already feel the spirit you are sharing with each other as you sing.

Sue said it all at rehearsal yesterday

"CONCERT doesn't mean standing up like a target in front of strangers.  It means coming together.  It means harmony.  Harmony not just in the music but among the souls that are singing it."

See you Sunday at 12:30 pm.
