I spent last evening talking to friends about you - were your ears burning?
My friends and I were discussing the importance of building a community in order to make music with
our choirs. It is so apparent that we have achieved that community. As long as we have each other, we will have a great musical experience. In my mind, singing in a good choir is the ultimate form of "teamwork" and friendship.
Thanks to all who brought treats. It's nice to have time to chat and relax after working so hard. For two weeks in a row now, I've heard that you are tired at the end of rehearsal - I think that's wonderful. You must be working hard.
Christmas concert is 5 rehearsals away. And our next sing out is in 3 weeks or so. All of our new members will be singing at Parkside on Nov 22. so I expect this to be a really exciting afternoon.
We are in good shape. This coming week we must complete the following.
1. I Heard the Bells - rhythm, rhythm, rhythm.
2. The Lesser Joys - last page - words, words, words.
3. We Wish You a Merry Christmas - measures 40 - end.
4. Clean up detail - Irving Berlin, Pachelbel Noel, Swingin' Christmas, When Christmas comes, Mary did you Know, Amid the Falling Snow, Do You Hear What I Hear, Gesu Bambino, The Hockey Song.
That is some program - and we will add NoteWorthy Jazz - Mr. Santa, Run Rudolph Run, and We Wish You the Merriest.
We will have 2 sing-a-longs in our concert as well. What more could an audience ask ?!
We have lots of music, and because the concert might be a bit too long - but what a wonderful problem to have. - For sure there will be little talking and lots of singing.
I can only ask that you keep listening, - I suggest that you mark your music during rehearsal, indicating the parts that you need to give a little extra attention to. This is how I make the most of my practise time. Less time playing what I know and more time learning what I don't.

I have a sweatshirt that says,
Music is the soul of life
Thank you for being the heart of the music
